The UP Warriorz vs. Mumbai Indians WPL 2026 match is underway at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first, backing their strong chasing record in day games. The fixture is a quick rematch of their previous encounter, which saw UP Warriorz register their first win of the season.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: Mumbai Indians at 165/6

Mumbai Indians eventually finished on 165/6 at the end of 20 overs, but it wasn’t enough. G Kamalini managed to strike a six with two balls remaining, yet the final delivery failed to produce the required runs as Deepti Sharma closed out the innings.

Just before that, Deepti was set to take strike in the final over with MI at 154/6 after 19 overs. That wicket had come when Shikha Pandey returned to bowl and produced a crucial moment, dismissing Amanjot Kaur with a sharp caught-and-bowled. G Kamalini then walked out at number 8 to join Amelia Kerr.

Earlier, Sophie Ecclestone had been taken on in the 18th over as Kerr struck a four and a six, lifting the total to 151/5 and leaving 37 needed from the final two overs. With three overs left, the equation stood at 51 runs required, very much achievable at that stage.

The momentum had continued in the 17th over when Shikha Pandey returned, but the duo kept the scoreboard moving with two boundaries. That pressure had been created in the 16th over when Amanjot Kaur smashed Deepti Sharma for two consecutive sixes, taking Mumbai to 125/5.

With 28 runs coming in two overs, the bowling side was forced into a strategic timeout to figure out how to break the partnership as the chase briefly tilted in Mumbai’s favour.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: 15-over update Mumbai Indians at 111/5

At the 15-over mark, Mumbai Indians crawl to 111/5, with Amanjot Kaur and Amelia Kerr managing three boundaries off Sophie Ecclestone, who returned in the 15th over. Asha Sobhana had bowled the 14th over earlier, conceding seven runs, while the 13th over saw Amanjot finally break free with a four and a six off Chloe Tryon. Sobhana had gone for nine in her previous over, where Amelia Kerr found the boundary.

Earlier, Amanjot Kaur walked out at No. 7 after MI lost their captain in the 11th over. Harmanpreet Kaur attempted to shift momentum with a six off Chloe Tryon but was soon caught at the ropes by Sophie Ecclestone, departing for 18 off 21. That dismissal left Mumbai at 69/5, needing 119 runs from 54 balls, and firmly under pressure. At that stage, MI were already well behind the pace at 62/4 compared to UP Warriorz’s 90/1, with the Warriorz very much on top.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: 10-over update Mumbai Indians at 62/4

Mumbai Indians move to 62/4 after 10 overs but continue to lose momentum as Deepti Sharma strikes in the 10th, removing Nicola Carey, who is caught brilliantly by Harleen Deol running back from mid-on. Carey departs for 6 off 10, leaving MI in trouble at 57/4 before the over’s end.

Earlier, in the 9th over, Kranti Gaud conceded a boundary to Harmanpreet Kaur, while Deepti Sharma kept things tight with just three runs in the 8th. Nicola Carey had walked in at No. 5 after Shikha Pandey returned to dismiss Nat Sciver-Brunt for 15 off 12, giving away a boundary before striking on the fifth ball to reduce MI to 45/3, still needing 143 from 79 balls.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: 5-over update Mumbai Indians at 33/2

Mumbai Indians are 33/2 after 5 overs, with Nat Sciver-Brunt finding two boundaries off Kranti Gaud in the fifth over.

The fourth over was a quiet one, with no runs conceded, after Sophie Ecclestone struck to dismiss Hayley Matthews, caught by the bowler. Harmanpreet Kaur walked in at No. 4 to replace Matthews.

Earlier, Sajana Sajeevan played a brisk cameo, hitting a six and a four off Gaud before being trapped LBW for 10 off 6 balls, leaving MI at 23/1 and needing 165 runs from 103 balls. Nat Sciver-Brunt then joined the crease.

At the start of the chase, Hayley Matthews and Sajana Sajeevan opened for Mumbai Indians and picked up five runs from the first over, while Shikha Pandey conceded two boundaries to Matthews from the other end.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: UP Warriorz collapse to 187/8

Deepti Sharma was dismissed by Amelia Kerr on the final ball, caught by G Kamalini, and after a review for a faint edge, the third umpire ruled her out. Sophie Ecclestone had been stumped on the previous delivery, also off Kerr, and Harleen Deol was stumped on the first ball of the over.

Earlier, Shweta Sehrawat had been caught behind off Nat Sciver-Brunt, who had come close to a hat-trick after dismissing Chloe Tryon in a rare full-toss mistake. Tryon had started the over with a powerful six over long-off and also struck a boundary off Nicola Carey, while Harleen Deol hit a massive six over mid-wicket as the partnership reached 35 off 20 balls.

The innings had briefly stopped when Harmanpreet Kaur appeared to get something in her right eye and required treatment, but play resumed soon after. The over produced three wickets in six balls, and UP Warriorz finished on 187/8.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: 15 Over update 143/3 Litchfield’s fifty ends as Amanjot breaks 119-run stand

The big moment came when Phoebe Litchfield’s explosive 61 off 47 balls ended in dramatic fashion, as Amanjot Kaur dismissed her on the final ball of a chaotic over that included two sixes and multiple boundaries. This also broke the crucial 119-run stand with Meg Lanning.

Meg Lanning continued her impressive form but was dismissed for 70 off 45 balls, falling to Amanjot Kaur after hitting three boundaries in her final over. UP Warriorz slipped from 124/1 to 136/3 in quick succession.

Earlier, Nat Sciver-Brunt returned and bowled economically, while Sanskriti Gupta kept the pressure on in the middle overs. UP Warriorz reached the halfway mark with a strong platform, and the innings has now shifted into the final phase with 5 wickets still in hand.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: 10 Over update 90/1 Meg Lanning’s 11th TATA WPL fifty

Meg Lanning brings up her second half-century of the season in emphatic fashion, launching a six to reach the milestone. It is her 11th TATA WPL fifty, extending her record for the most half-centuries by any batter in the tournament’s history.

Hayley Matthews was introduced into the attack for Mumbai Indians, but Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning made full use of the over, striking three boundaries between them.

Amanjot Kaur bowled the next over and conceded seven runs, as UP Warriorz continued to rebuild after the early wicket. Amelia Kerr then came on in the eighth over, keeping things tight by giving away just four runs.

Amanjot returned in the ninth over, but Phoebe Litchfield shifted gears, smashing a six and a four, as the over went for 11 runs. Amelia Kerr was back for the 10th over, and Meg Lanning greeted her with a six off the first ball, before Litchfield added another boundary to keep the scoreboard ticking.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: 5 Over update 42/1

Meg Lanning and Kiran Navgire opened the batting for UP Warriorz. With Shabnim Ismail not playing today, it was Nicola Carey who took the new ball for Mumbai Indians. Carey made an immediate impact, striking in the very first over to dismiss Navgire for a golden duck. Phoebe Litchfield walked in at No. 3 to replace Navgire.

Sanskriti Gupta was introduced in the second over as she bowled to Meg Lanning. Carey returned in the third over, where Phoebe Litchfield found her rhythm, picking up both a boundary and a six. Nat Sciver-Brunt was brought into the attack in the fourth over, conceding five runs, including a boundary struck by Lanning.

Carey bowled the fifth over and was taken for 11 runs, giving UP Warriorz some early momentum after the initial setback.

UPW vs MIW, WPL 2026: Captains at the Toss

Meg Lanning (UP Warriorz):
“We would have bowled first as well, as that seems to be the trend, but there have been opportunities to bat first in day games. You have to be able to do both well. We’re excited to face Mumbai again, know they’ll be keen to bounce back, and feel we can improve in a few areas too. We’re going with the same team.”

Harmanpreet Kaur (Mumbai Indians):
“We’ve decided to bowl first as chasing has always been our strength. Considering the conditions in this day game, Hayley Matthews comes back into the side while Ismail is rested. Poonam is not playing today and Kranti will make her debut. Conditions will play a big role as we move into the main phase of the tournament.”
